As I was web browsing, I stumbled upon this. It lists the best selling games for the major international markets. Check this out.

Xbox 360
North America: 1. Tales of Vesperia — Premium Edition (Namco Bandai), 2. Tales of Vesperia (Namco Bandai), 3. Madden NFL 09 (EA Sports), 4. Too Human (Microsoft), 5. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 (EA Sports).

Japan: 1. Tales of Vesperia (Namco), 2. Clannad (Prototype), 3. Too Human (Microsoft), 4. Soulcalibur IV (Namco), 5. Dead Rising — Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Capcom).

UK: 1. Too Human (Microsoft), 2. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 3. Beijing 2008 (Sega), 4. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 5. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 (EA Sports).

Both the regular and limited editions of Namco Bandai’s debuting RPG Tales of Vesperia manage to trump former North American Xbox 360 sales leader Madden NFL 09 in this week’s results. Too Human falls to fourth place, meanwhile, as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 joins the chart at fifth.

Tales of Vesperia remains a top seller in Japan this week as well, though the recently released Xbox 360 port of Clannad provides ample chart competition. UK gamers place Too Human at the top of the charts in its premiere week, with GTAIV finishing close behind.

These screenshots look very promising. The new Halo Wars will boast the following features

  • New take on a legendary world. Set in the iconic “Halo” universe, “Halo Wars” predates the original first-person shooter “Halo.” Fans of the “Halo” franchise will have the opportunity to experience the early battles between the UNSC and Covenant, the far-reaching conflict that has been diligently followed by the masses in the blockbuster “Halo” series.
  • Players join the crew onboard the Spirit of Fire, a Phoenix-class colony ship converted for UNSC military use and guided by the AI persona Serina. The “Halo Wars” story line follows the Spirit of Fire’s discovery of an ancient artifact during a journey to the planet Harvest, the first planet to be attacked by the Covenant.
  • Strategic command of armies in large-scale combat. “Halo Wars” put gamers in command of the battlefield, playing as either of two unique civilizations: UNSC and Covenant. They can counter and crush their opponent by tactically fielding the superior army. Players can also choose among Leaders that possess elite skills which can turn the tides of battle. Using various combinations of Leaders and units, players can create countless strategies tailored to their preferred playing styles and personalized strategies.

News from Namco Bandai is that a demo for the highly anticipated fighting game will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace. But there are some bad news. Unfortunately for those Star Wars fans, you will not be able to play as either Yoda or Darth Vader in the demo version. Those two characters are only available on the retail product. Video review of the world's sports video game…FIFA 09!!!

Posted by Jake Shaible | Posted in New 360 Games | Posted on 28-08-2008

There’s this new saying going around EA sports these days. If ‘futbol’ is the world’s sport, then EA Sports’ FIFA video game franchise is the video game of the world. A new trailer for the highly internationally anticipated FIFA 09 video game for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Check this trailer out as it basically summarizes the newly added features of the game.

I don’t know about you, but all these new features and upgrades just look AMAZING!!!! As we can see, FIFA 08 was just the stepping stone. The tackling looks better and more realistic, the goalkeeper has better A.I., first-touch and dummy moves have been added, and strength matters in this game now. This is just a few of the new features added to FIFA 09. We haven’t even really touched into the new features on Xbox Live. The only negative thing about the game is that I expected much better crowd animation. I wanted to see fans get rowdy like at real futbol games. But EA Sports answered all the wishes of FIFA 08 fans, and now we will probably be getting the ultimate futbol video game ever!!!

Exclusive video games trend may come to an end

Posted by Jake Shaible | Posted in Xbox 360 news | Posted on 27-08-2008

Check out this interesting article by Jennifer Martinez of Rueters UK regarding the future of console exclusive video games:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Rising development costs might force console makers Microsoft and Sony to publish more video games themselves, as independent studios avoid exclusive deals for blockbusters.

The fortunes of the hardware makers have turned on whether they can attract exclusive hit video games, driving fans to buy their consoles. But increasingly, the companies behind the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will have to fund their own games if they want publishing rights to a game their rivals cannot get.

Konami June release of “Metal Gear Solid 4,” a game franchise exclusive to Sony’s PS3, helped narrow the gap between Nintendo’s Wii console and the PS3. The units of PS3 consoles sold hit a record for a non- holiday month, according to NPD research group.

But Wedbush Morgan video game analyst Michael Pachter forecasts that independent studio exclusives such as the “Metal Gear Solid” series will disappear from store shelves as soon as next year.

“The cost of making a game is so high that you need to recover it by selling a lot more units,” said Pachter. “You can’t give up half the market by selling exclusives.”

A software maker has to foot a bill of about $20 million to $50 million (11 million to 27 million pounds) to make a game.

Sony has traditionally beaten Microsoft at securing popular game franchises for the PlayStation console. Take Two Interactive Software “Grand Theft Auto” series and Eidos Interactive’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” games both originally were tied to the PlayStation.

But “Grand Theft Auto IV” was launched simultaneously on the PS3 and Xbox in April. Microsoft dealt another blow when the company announced during July’s E3 video game industry conference that the upcoming “Final Fantasy XII” game by Square Enix will be released for the first time on the Xbox.

The “Final Fantasy” franchise had been a PlayStation-only exclusive since 1997.

“It’s a trend we’re excited about, but not completely surprised about if you look at the installed base and attached rate (of customers to the Xbox),” said Microsoft spokesman David Dennis. “Third party (publishers) are looking at the same things we are and they want to put games into as many people’s hands as possible.”

Exclusive games are not only pricier for independent studios to make than in the past, but analysts say it’s hard for them to commit to one console since the Xbox 360 now rivals the PS3 for sales, unlike in previous generations.

The Xbox 360, with a year’s head start in sales, has sold over 19 million units globally compared with 14 million PS3 units, according to data from the two companies. U.S. sales of the Xbox 360 and PS3 are 10.7 million and 5 million units, respectively.

“The lack of a dominant console means it’s too difficult (for software makers) to give up on a console,” said BMO Capital Markets analyst Ed Williams. “With the PS3 or Xbox 360, you don’t have a clear winner like the PlayStation 2 or PlayStation were.”

With exclusive games fading, console makers will have to depend on games developed within their own studios instead.

“The reality of exclusives is that they will become far more infrequent. The way hardware companies have to offset that is through enhancing the quality of games coming through their own studios that will drive customers to buy their own hardware system,” said Williams.

Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian agreed that Microsoft and Sony would focus more on making games. He identified Microsoft’s flagship “Halo” franchise as one of the company’s biggest blockbusters that will continue to spike sales of the Xbox.

“People were buying the Xbox in anticipation of Halo 3,” Sebastian said of the game’s release last September.

Sony expects that its studio’s release in October of “Little Big Planet” will be positive for PS3 sales during the fall and holiday season.

Still, some analysts say exclusives are not gone for good. Software makers can also give a head start to one console. Microsoft has secured the September release of “Rock Band 2″ by Electronic Arts, Harmonix and Viacom Inc’s MTV Games, on the Xbox — months ahead of versions for the PS3 and Nintendo Co Ltd’s Wii console.

“Relationships with console manufacturers is important to all third party publishers,” said Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia. “Deals are being done less and less, but they’re not dead.”

Play Xbox Live with Epson MovieMate 55 projector

Posted by Jake Shaible | Posted in Xbox 360 news | Posted on 27-08-2008

As I was browsing through blogs and Xbox 360 news, I stumbled upon this news bit. Epson, which is really just known for printers and scanners, have produced the Epson MovieMate 55 Projector, which is certainly an upgrade on their previous model. It displays an 80-inch, widescreen image from just 7.8 feet away, or a 120-inch image from just 11.8 feet away. Epson decided to use the brighter E-TORL lamp, which efficiently projects more light. What does that mean? Well basically, it distributes the light evenly across the entire screen. So when you are watching a film or television show and you have to grab some food, the screen won’t fade and you can continue your movie or show. But what makes this projector special is that it is compatible with gaming consoles, but more importantly Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Just imagine playing Call of Duty 4 or Madden ‘09 on Xbox Live with a projector. This new projector will help illuminate the video game’s graphics and help gamers mutltitask (whatever it may be that you have to do in the middle of a game). Sounds great? It sounds great to me. The projector is expected to be available in October and a price tag has yet to be announced. Make sure to check back as more information comes our way.
